Top Sealing Dampers

Until the 1960’s most fireplaces were built without a throat damper to seal off the chimney. A Top Sealing Damper is a simple, cost-effective solution to seal off the inside of a chimney and stop those dollars from leaving your home. Top Sealing Dampers are not just for missing dampers. They are a great replacement for warped, rusted, and leaky throat dampers.

All of our top sealing dampers are made of 304 Stainless Steel with a special stainless steel aircraft cable that runs inside the flue from the cap down to the box. A simple to operate handle is installed right in the firebox at an easy reach for operation.

Arizona Chimney & Air Ducts will help you determine which model is correct for your chimney and assure you have a proper fit. The top sealing damper is available with or without the bird guard/spark screen.

If you do not know the condition of your damper, don’t delay and contact us today to schedule your evaluation.

Why install a top mount damper?

  • Saves you money
  • Seals in your heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer
  • Seals out animals, birds, and insects
  • Seals out rain, hail, and even that little bit of snow we might get
  • Helps prevent sparks from landing on your roof
  • Eliminates wind downdrafts when closed, minimizes when open
  • Much more efficient than traditional throat-mount dampers
  • Handle is easy to reach, see, and easy to use
  • All of our top sealing dampers are “Made in the USA”

Humane Bird Removal

Bird-in-Chimney

Do you have a bird stuck in your chimney?

Pigeons and other birds gravitate to the highest perches possible for many reasons. Unfortunately, this would be your chimney on most houses. Without chimney protection birds and other wildlife tend to go into and get stuck inside the chimney.

There are different speculations why they go into the chimney. Either way, once down the chimney they cannot get out. They cannot fly out and most chimneys are too slick and steep for birds and other wildlife to climb out.

Are Birds Taking Over Your Chimney?

Bird Spikes

Bird Spikes are the most effective, permanent protection against bird landings, nesting and roosting where they are not wanted.

Arizona Chimney & Air Ducts offers Bird Spiking along the chimney top and small nooks and ledges only. This will prevent pesky birds from congregating and nesting or roosting on those specific areas. Installing Bird Spikes will stop birds from creating unsightly messes and health problems.

Our Bird Spikes are constructed of 316 Stainless Steel spikes, manufactured into a U.V. protected polycarbonate base. The patent pending design provides extra strength and stability, and unlike other spike products, it will not rust or deteriorate under extreme conditions.

Chimney Crown Repairs

Does your chimney have a water leak?

The chimney crown covers and seals the top of the chimney from the flue liner to the chimney edge.

Most masonry chimneys are built with an inadequate crown constructed from common mortar mix. It is not designed for and will not withstand years of weather abuse without cracking, chipping, or deteriorating. This will allow water to penetrate the crown causing erosion of the bricks and mortar of the chimney’s vertical surfaces.

Arizona Chimney & Air Ducts can help save your crown from deterioration.

We use a flexible elastomeric waterproof sealant to coat the crown and protect it from weather-related conditions for years to come. The product will form a continuous, seamless coating with a textured appearance. Many times the crown does not need a total coverage and only needs small minor cracks and holes filled. We offer a similar sealant to seal those cracks and holes in the crown to bond a waterproof flexible seal.

Is your chimney letting water in?

Chimney Chase Covers

A chimney chase cover takes water intrusion prevention to the next level. Our chase covers will solve your leaking or rusting chimney problems.

A chimney chase cover is a metal top covering the entire exposed chimney shaft. It has a drip edge that extends to the sides of the chimney. A proper chase cover and chimney cap will shed water away from the chimney.

They serve a very important purpose of preventing moisture, animals, leaves and other debris from getting down into the chimney chase. If deterioration has started it can cause may types of damage. Which includes: rotting wood framing, mold, deterioration of the firebox caused by rusting, and damaged sheet rock inside your home.
